Default Door vibration noise

Hi all, I’ve been chasing an intermittent noise coming from my passenger door. The noise comes on at certain rpms and road conditions and can best be described as a plastic-on-plastic rattle.
So far I’ve removed the door card at least 4 times and applied felt tape to loose wires, and anything I thought could be the source of the noise, with no success. My next idea is to drive the car with the door card removed to see if the noise is coming from the door card or from behind the inner door panel. Any reason why I shouldn’t do this?

Better approach is to shake the cht out of it in your garage while poking around to find the evil f'r. Read up here:

Can you turn the electronics on if your door skin is unattached (orange connector not on). I think the air bag would be unconnected as well

Thanks Bruce. I did see that thread and tried the tone generator through the speakers but I wasn't able to reproduce the noise.

I think I found the source of the noise though. With the door card removed, the noise persisted. But when my wife drove and I sat in the passenger seat, it disappeared. While inspecting the seat components, I found a steel cable near the seat hinge, loosely attached to a bolt. Since the seat vibrates when empty, I suspect the noise came from the hinge area and echoed through the door. I wrapped the cable in felt tape, and the noise stopped. Not 100% sure that was it, but it’s gone for now, so I’m calling it fixed, unless it comes back.

I have the same cable - I think it's supposed to be loose like that? When I drive without a passenger, I put the pass seatbelt in.. which eliminates a noise

I think it’s supposed to be loose, however, my problem is that my passenger seat shakes when empty. This apparently happens when the tires are cupped. Does your passenger seat shake? I tried with the seatbelt clipped too but the noise was still there. Also, it looks like the plastic cover is missing from my hinge, which could be making the noise easier to hear. Again, I’m not fully convinced I found the source of the noise. Stay tuned!

Old engine mounts can also cause this.
