While driving the dashboard flashed "visit workshop" warnings and white transmission emergency run warnings. The engine also has an obvious misfire.
Should I chalk this all up to needing to replace coils/plugs (last done 28,000 miles / 3.5 years ago) or could it be something else? The battery is also 3.5 years old, but I have noted that recently the engine cranks longer.
I would do coils and plugs first. A misfire can result in a PDK transmission error for some reason from what I've seen, even though I don't understand why. I'd first address the misfire then see where you are.

Yes that is the best approach!
I had more or less the same error codes and changed all plugs and coils. Problem solved!!
A coil pack can produce an internal spark and so producing an Electro Magnetic field. Probably the PDK control unit is susceptible for EM fields. (EMC)
Thanks for the feedback. To close this out for posterity, I had the coils and plugs changed (~$1200) at an independent in the Chicago suburbs and seemed to fix all the issues. Everything runs great now and no codes.
