Default Pulley or power steering pump whine?

2006 Carrera S, manual, 101700km.

Noticed a whine at idle but I'm not sure what it could be?

The water pump was changed last year. The tensioner pulley and belt 2 years ago.

One thing I noticed a few weeks ago was that the power steering liquid reservoir cap was a bit loose and had some fluid leak. Level seemed fine and hasn't leaked since I secured the cap.

Any hints?

Thanks!

Your gonna need a stethoscope. Harbor Freight has one for just a few bucks... it has an extender on it... start probing. you will find it right quick.

I don't hear anything. If it's power steering related, the sound should change as you turn the steering wheel.

So all pulleys have been changed (except for the tensioner pulley, which was changed 2 years ago) and the whine remains. However, it's not as bad when I turn off the A/C but there's still a faint whine.

Also, the whine is not present when the engine is cold.

The belt was changed 2 years ago. One of the pulley's plastic (top one) was a bit worn out so I'm wondering if that caused the belt to be noisier and if so, if it's worth to change it? Could it be the tensioner?

Thanks!

The belt was replaced, and the whine is gone. The tech suspects the belt may have been contaminated, possibly due to coolant from an expansion tank failure, causing it to stretch. Everything's working fine now.
