Targa roof squeaking noise finally fixed!
After 2 weeks of trial and error, I silenced my Targa Roof! I brought her home 2 weeks ago, but she had terrible squeaks and rubbing noise while driving. All noise was coming from the front where the air deflector pins between the glass and roof beam. Forums and YouTube videos failed to address my issues: cleaners, lubes, and restoration products all failed.
My final solution: Teflon coated tape. No more rubbing and squeaking between surfaces. The black color blends in very well. Cabin is quiet with a little wind noise above 60mph.
2007 Targa 4S 997.1
2007 Targa 4S 997.1
25mm wide Black Teflon, fiberglass adhesive tape
Tape applied to every surface I think is rubbing. The worst culprit is the air deflector pinning to the bottom surface of the roof beam
The tape is nearly invisible on the roof beam, light and shadows make the tape disappear
Tape applied to the air deflector is the most visible, but I don't see it while driving. And when parked I always close the roof.
The roof seals perfectly fine. no gaps or seams. no leaks. I only get wind noise over 60mph, which is minor.
