Talking My first Porsche, 997.2 Turbo S! - Blog

Hey Everyone,

I recently picked up my first Porsche a 2012 911 Turbo S w/ 24442 miles, which has been my dream car for a while now! I remember when I was a kid growing up in Tarrytown my friend's dad had a 930 white vert, with mesh gold wheels, and the iconic whale tail and really drew me to the brand later in life.
Quick little summary of past few cars 2017 M3 Comp., 2013 M3 Coupe Comp., and a 2015 Nissan GT-R. I will say from my butt dyno the stock Turbo S does feel faster then my GT-R which has been tuned. I think its the feeling of sitting lower to the ground but it sure is quick and turns far better then the GT-R. I can say the GT-R was definitely more of a GT comfort feel to ride quality compared to the 911 even lowered but I don't mind it feels like it wants to go!

I recently spoke to Jonny at JCR and ordered their Titanium X-pipe and I might be the only one in the US with this X-pipe. It going to get installed within the week, exhaust note is not loud enough for my liking. Don't plan on getting downpipes the misses doesn't like the gas smell. I placed an order for wheels and was juggling between a few sets as the stock OEM Turbo 2 wheels have been painted black.....on cup 2 tires dating to 2021. The options were gold Advan GT's, silver Apex VS-5RS, and gold face BBS LM's, I'll take pics when I get them might take a bit of time praying for the gods a new stock order comes. I specifically chose 5lug over center lock so I can do easy wheel swaps at home if I had too.

Those are the first few things I addressed, but now down to the paint of the car, it does have some swirl marks and no ppf and a few chips to the bumper that need to get done. I am sending it to my detailer to get paint corrected, front clip PPF'd with some custom pieces for side skirts and rear quarter, and the whole rear bumper. Debating if I should just PPF the whole car at this point. Also, the rubber trim around the door is a bit faded not sure if that can get restored if not might order new trim down the road. I recently took it down my favorite road and ohh boy does this car make you cheese . Can't wait to meet the local gang of Porsche enthusiasts in the North NJ region!

Best,

Benny

box was super light!!!

Stock Tips or soemthing different?

Definitely would recommend getting a DSC controller for your car (if previous owner didn't get one already) -- quite a noticeable upgrade in suspension comfort while still retaining/improving handling.

Beautiful car! There's a tech...I think he may be a Mgr. now at Jack Daniels Porsche...his name is Walter and he took care of my 911s for years. He's excellent so just an FTI...I live in Naples now and I miss him and how he cared for my cars like they were his!

Sweet car. S with 5 lugs is a pretty rare find. Regarding tips, stock will likely keep the sound down if desired. May require adapters if your x pipe is 3”. You can fit quads in there. The 3.5” fab speeds look great IMO.

Cool Sorry its been a busy Two Weeks!

After I received the car I drove it on a quick trip to the beach and shortly dropped the car off at the detailer. Want to give a shout out to Kev, IG: OCDetailist based in North NJ.
To do list: paint correction, Stek PPF full front, doors, rockers, custom rear quarter panel, rear bumper, and wing... maybe should of just did the whole car......... Gyeon ceramic coating + wheels, exterior and interior, plus windshield, Ceramic Tints 50% keep it classy .
Lastly installing the @JCR-Porsche JCR X-Pipe!! Video 1731 is stock exhaust, 1787 is start up after installation, 1791 car slowing reversing, 1792 minor rev's late at night, 5997 full beans SPORT+. Going to record a full WOT video when I can. Life is very busy, getting married so we'll see lol.
At the moment happy with how loud the car is, but not sure as I have not opened the windows because of the Tint. Will go for a quick drive to the local dealer. Reason being after the car was detailed was informed of a minor crack on the lower arm piece of the passenger side mirror small fix no biggie.
Regarding the fitment of the exhaust it seems like the JCR exhaust, it has a tight fitment for the stock tips as they are closer inward on the bumper then on the stock muffler. Outside of that fitment to stock cats are good. I just ordered some Soul performance GT2 tips and hope that amends my issue with the tips being close to the exhaust shroud on the bumper bugs me out.

The big wheel secret BBS LM's Gold face, polished lips! Just need some patience, waiting on stock...

Anyway I will be uploading more images and video's shortly stay tuned for more updates!

Benny

Quick little back road blast, had mic trouble on the drive. I've gone every weekend so far . Will have better angles and get a legit mic for the go pro...
I've added a DSC controller, GT2 Tips and upgraded to LED bulbs for the bulbs in the cabin and out.

But heres the youtube vid to the backroad drive, enjoy!

BBS LM'S coming next week! Car is at OCDetailist again for more PPF work. The reason I went to a new local detailer that damaged my PPF.... and etched a pink stain, they left some kind of solution on my ppf and it etched in.
Won't have the car until the 24th no driving for me. The odometer I think after todays Bear Mountain drive was 26970ish.
Here's some footage of todays drive!
