Default PCCM+ mic install 997.1

Apparently there's a spot for a mic in the steering wheel column cover however the pccm+ mic housing is not intended to be installed there.

Took the mic housing and steering wheel column cover apart

3D printed a new housing

Mic fitting

With cover

Snapped into mic spot

Done

Nice! For those that don't want to 3D print their own, you can buy a housing here: https://shop.enfigcarstereo.com/product/enfig-mic-por1/

I'm going to install mine soon.

Good call out! Ordering will save you a few hours of cad time.

Wondering why Porsche decided not to provide proper housing to begin with. Perhaps they didn't like the placement? Haven't tested mic quality yet.

Do these work with the PCCM+ ? The plug looks different.

ComradStan - any chance you’re willing to post your design?

This mic came with PCCM+. It was already connected to PCCM+ in the photos.

I'll post the 3D files on https://www.thingiverse.com once I get past initial 24 hour post ban (just signed up). I'll add the link here when it let's me publish it.

Thanks! In the description on Thingiverse you put PMMC, but it's PCCM. Maybe change this so a search can find it? Would it also be possible to add the source files to make it possible to modify it for other microphones (assuming that you've used a common modelling software)?

Not sure if we want people to find it with just a search though. That would be too easy. Good catch, I updated the name but it's not showing up yet, perhaps needs a few minutes. Added a link to Fusion 360 share.

I bought one of these. Not real impressed for the price.

Do these even work with the PCCM+? It has a 3.5mm plug whereas the mic that comes with the unit has a pinned plug that goes directly into the back of the unit. Also - if you go into the developer settings of the PCCM+ you can adjust your mic settings to try to optimize it

When you say 'do these even work' what are you referring to? The photo of the mic in the housing is the original PCCM+ mic with PCCM connector.

This is the original housing (cover removed)

There have been a couple of posts lining to this aftermarket one

https://shop.enfigcarstereo.com/product/enfig-mic-por1/. That is what I’m referring to when I asked if they work with the pccm+.

However - I like your solution better since it uses the mic that already came with my PCCM+. I suspect it will be way cheaper to have it locally printed than the $40 enfig version above. Thanks for sharing!

Oh I see. So, if you go to enfigmic page, you can select pccm+ housing option which sells you just the housing and you can use the supplied pmmc+ mic. Looks like $40 for basically the same/similar thing that I made/posted above. If you don't have a printer, that's a valid option.

To open up the steering wheel column, you need a thin neck t10 screw driver. There are 2 bolts under the wheel. Make sure the neck is thin and long. Otherwise, won't fit.
