997.2 smog weirdness

Just got the my 997.2 C2 smogged in Cali. The car has Fisters cans and SW center bypass. Nothing else touched. Bought it as a CPO two years ago so pretty confident I’ll pass just fine.
Sure enough, after 5 mins of looking under the car, the tech calls me over, “hey, the DMV database says this car has FOUR cat converters, I only see two on each side. Where are the center cats (pointing to the SW bypass)?”
I explained there are no cats in the middle. It used to be just a muffler. He then showed me the DMV screen showing both 3.6 and 3.8 models have four cats. I told him I bought the car as a CPO so no way the cats were removed before me.
After a few minutes of standstill, he decided to pass me. He said, “well, it’s not gonna pass next time!”
Am I the ignorant one here? Why would DMV’s database specify four factory cats on our cars?

From the block, on each side, you go headers, single cat, center muffler, cross over to opposite side muffler (where the gundo hack simulates the sport exhaust), and then to the tailpipes (one smaller than the other if sport exhaust).
Whoever you had was looking at the wrong drawing.

That’s exactly what I told him. He wasn’t looking at any diagram. The specs in the DMV database said: 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera. Number of catalytic converter: 4.
More reasons to love our smog requirements, I guess. 🙄

I have to believe that error will get fixed. But maybe this is a warning to go to your next test armed with the appropriate PET drawing.

Even with the MK1 model he wouldn't find "that" second cat if he didn't know that two kats are housed in one housing. I wonder why fulfilling the emission values is not simply sufficient.
