Default TPM

Got new wheels, tires and sensors from Forgeline. Every time I get in the car the TPM has to be re-learned. Coding required? Suggestions?

There is an underworld RL group that I am part of and we dislike the never endine malfunctioning Porsche TPMS.
They can be a PITA.
Planning on having mine removed this spring. Sorry I'm of no help but you're welcome to join the group.

I exchanged my sensors with sensors from Tire Rack, which are identical to the Porsche sensors. No problems at all.
From what I heard, the car doesn't play well with other sensors.

I know some people have a lot of trouble with TPMS, but they've always worked fine for me on my 997.2. They've been accurate when measured against a temperature compensated pressure gauge, and are the default display I've setup in my dash.

The most recent sensors I installed back in 2019 were the Huf RDE011v21. The nice thing about them is they don't need any programming, they work out of the box once you've driven a few miles with them. Will probably get another 1-2 years out of them, before they need to be replaced.

I don't know if that specific model is still available, of it replaced with another model by Huf.

RDE011's are discontinued. The OE sensor is RDE048 which are a little pricey. However Huf (actually BHSens now) makes a programmable one and they get delivered already programmed and ready to install. Will be just like OE. Also used to have a code "5%off" for a discount. About $113 a set.

Those are the ones I got:

no programming. Worked out of the Box (but have to learn for a few miles). $60/sensor

Default For my car

Tire Rack search says these. I’ll see if my mechanic friend and his PIWIS can co anything or diagnose the problem. If not I’ll buy these.

I too brought and installed these about two years ago and they worked and synchronized almost immediately. Hence, I don't understand why people go for much pricier options when these are what Porsche sells under their much more expensive part number and banner.

As a frustrated 997 TPMS owner I appreciate this Thread.
Before my planned disconnecting/ditching my TPMS I will make one more attempt using this set of TPM's.
I'm ordering them now

I’m sure you know this already.

But the ones above are for the .2 Carreras, the ones for the .1 are a different part.

Don't know about the ones for 997.1 but the ones for the 997.2 do not require any coding... just drive a couple of miles and they'll synchronize without a hitch. Well, at least that was my experience and that others in this forum have reaffirmed.

As a parting note please heed the warning from wjk_glynn when ordering for a 997.1, 997.2 or 997 Turbo... they are different.

There is no coding for ANY Porsche. They are auto relearn which means just install the correct sensors for your year, make and model, sometimes initiate via PCM and drive. Yes different variants of 911's will have different protocols and you need to order for the proper year, make and model.

Appreciate the heads up!
Their website's order page has you fill out Year/Make/Model of car during the order process.
