997.1 ENGINE SWAP Thread: K24!

hey gang, I don't post much on forums due to time, but my 2006 911 C2S is now running/driving and has most of Nick's parts for the swap.
The car has sport hard back seats and the non bose sound system.
I'm running a k24z7 with a 6262g from VSR. It hit the scales at 2949lbs last night, without the rear bumper or a proper exhaust (straight pipe). I bought the car with a blown engine.
The engine is from a 2013 civic si that was a salvage car, pulled the motor straight from it and will just be running it until I can do a basic piston/rod/head stud build.
It sits about 1-2" taller in the rear, and I my target was 3000lbs or less and 400rwhp when I started this about a year ago.
I've driven quite a few cars, and am looking forward to putting the miles on this one.

Sorry if I offended anyone, everyone is so sensitive these days (plus he started it with the 997.1 motor comments). Am I being canceled?

"This is quite possibly the worst take I've seen this year. The OP blew up his inherently flawed, extremely expensive engine and he's replacing it with an engine setup that will reduce weight by 200-300lbs (with turbo setup included), get better cruising mileage, have better emissions, make potentially double the power, and has a longstanding reputation of being an extremely reliable engine even under motorsport conditions...
Why don't you have a GT3RS? Why be a poser in a cheap Porsche? <- That is the same garbage circular logic you're using."
1) given that the OP sounds very capable of wrenching in doing this swap he knew what he was doing and the potential shortcomings when he bought the 997 . Feel bad his motor went but we don't know that he paid full market price, and again sounds like he knew what he was getting into. OP - what did you pay for the car and what were the details around the purchase and PPi results?
2) If you look under the hood of a 997, what do you expect to see - a Porsche engine? true or false? I was just using an analogous situation, and in today's world some may like the "unexpected" so why do you find it so offensive?
3) Your GT3RS comment is ridiculous and not the same. I drive a base 2005 997, runs perfect (going on 20 years since new), but it is a Porsche thru and thru. I am actually an antithesis to a poser as I can afford several GT3RS, but I like simple, understated and older analog, non spoiler wearing cars and not "posing" as boy racer on the street.
4) More power to OP for doing what he is doing on a budget. Just not my cup of tea pretending to drive a "real" Porsche regardless of how much better the Honda motor is perceived to be, but hey that's just my opinion.

Swapping out a Porche engine has always been looked down upon. It's not a "purist" thing to do and most everyone on RL appreciates the engineering of the Porsche engine and part of the reason we love these cars.
Doing a swap might be cheaper than a rebuild on the front end but when you go to sell, the market is very small for an engine swap car and it sells for much less as well. So in the end it is most likely a "wash" in terms of actual cost.
.......When I asked about the swap/costs, OP says he didn't care because he will keep his car forever. I said that 50 Porsche's ago.
*Good luck to the OP doing the swap amd will be intersting to see just how much $$ tha actual cost is when finished.

I have had a 550hp k swap in my 996 for almost 2 years now. I’m all in at right around $22k including the car. Last time I check your not touching a 500hp+ Porsche for this kinda money. Great swap. Best of luck. Let me know if you need any help. I build k swap mounts for the 996/997

that’s pretty sweet! We’re shooting for about 450+ horsepower. The exhaust is pretty sweet! Can you message me your info maybe?
yeah. We’re going to have about $20K into the project give or take. And a lot more reliable powertrain. I couldn’t see spending another $40-$50,000 to have the same problem potentially happen again.
we are doing a lot of in-house fabrication as well and going to probably market. This is a complete set up eventually. I have a pretty extensive Google dock with all the information and parts.

So quick update. I got done cleaning up the K24 and swapping out some of the factory gaskets and such. It’s nice working at an Acura dealer. I can get a deal on parts lol
We ordered the transmission, drive axles and pedals, which should be here next week. I’m cutting the interior tomorrow to get ready to do that Swap.
We have the ECU, turbo, intercooler, and most of the other essentials on order or in-house.
hopefully be pulling this thing out in the next week or two and starting this project…

Keep posting, I for one am very interested in what you are doing. No purist stuff from me. At some point, maybe all?, a car is just a car. I never cared for what low riders do, nor how young folks modify... such as slamming cars down to where they look sat upon... not for me, but I am fascinated with the passion and efforts put into these things.
Peace
