Are you seeing non S with bore scoring or both?

Can you share pics? Is this bore scoring, cold seizure, or bore streaking? How many miles? Location and history? Reason for being sold as rollers?

Yeah, that may be asking for too much detail. But I haven't seen this and I would really like to know.

I just saw a picture on FB indicating a 2010 C4S with well over 200K miles with nothing but basic service. That prompted others with like experience to chime in. Nothing negative.

I'm not sure if there's much to add that will educate us regarding what to do to minimize risk of what appears to be a low percentage event on what are now cars as old as 15 years, many with 100K miles or more. It is worth watching, of course, but details matter to avoid anecdotal conclusions.

Do you have links to said posts on other forums/sites? Not doubting what you’re saying but invariably, whenever someone makes a claim like this, it’s nearly impossible to get proof.

Do a search for bore-scoring on the 997.2 on this forum and others and you will hardly find any threads or posts confirming it. There is one well-known thread here where it was speculated that the bore scoring happened because of a manufacturing defect.

On another note, the creator of that YouTube video is single-handedly responsible for much fear-mongering and blowing the whole issue out of proportion. That’s all he could talk about on his channel when he first got the car. The name of his channel should give you a big hint about why he does this.

I'm constantly searching 997 For Sale ads on RL Marketplace, PCA, Pelican Porsche for sale website, Bring A Trailer, Ebay, FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. for years.
I haven't saved any of the information when I see 997.1 or 997.2 rollers for sale from Bore Scoring----> I've actually been refraining from posting negative Bore Scoring comments on the various RL Threads because it gets old and creates wars.
Many RL 997.2 owners have a hard time accepting their cars can possibly have scoring.
....So probably best for all future buyers of 997.1 & 997.2 cars(And 991's) to do their due dilligence and have thorough PPI & Bore Scope Inspections performed when purchasing. Something I have been preaching for the past 5-6 years.
Bore Scope Inspections have saved my *** on 3 separate occasions (all 997.1 "S" engines) and when I became a heavy advocate for Bore Scope Inspections.

Also there has been scoring found in 991 engines as well - Heres a photo taken off an RL 991 Forum Thread from owner who's indy gave him the bad news:
