Default Plastic cowl rubber strip

I noticed on my 997.2 that the rubber strip on the plastic cover under the wipers is cracking. Not know what this is called, my efforts to search for it have not seen good results. What is the official name of this so I can look it up? TIA

I think you are referring to the black plastic cowl in this Ebay ad:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/26612185755...gAAOSw5D1j4ohJ

They tend to discolor and can crack over time from the sun.
Replacements aren;t too expensive at about $150 - Not sure of the labor involved.

Thanks! Is it possible to just replace the rubber strip in the trailing edge against the windshield? My plastic is in decent shape.

I think the little rubber edge is part of the larger cowl. Don't recall an option when I replaced mine. The little square bolt covers are extra.

The connectors for the washer spray nozzles were different so I had to do some surgery to mate them with my existing. 2005 997.1.

YRMV. Good luck.

What is available is what is in the Porsche parts catalog. Pull down a copy for your car... I think it is illustration: 813-020. But be careful, as these cars may have options that require a slightly different part.

I changed mine. A simple task with big results.

Did you have some gaps between like your glass and the original? I'm wondering if replacing would fix that the old one doesn't seem to line up perfectly.

Mine had no gaps. Just weather over the years. New one fit nice and snug.

Mine has had gaps forever. You may be able to get it to lay flat by adjusting the nuts.... pop off the little caps, one on each side and dick with the adjustment by loosening the nuts.

Peace

Yeah I'm kind of under the impression that some gaps in the cowl are normal and not a problem
