New 997.1 C2s Owner
Hello all. Sold my 996.1 over the summer and have upgraded to a 997.1 C2s. I purchased the car on Bring a Trailer, some of you may recognize it as it has some interesting body modifications..
I got the car at a fair price, even with fees and shipping from CA to NY, so I have some room to make it look better, mostly by finding a rear bumper and doing some paintwork. Seller on Bring a Trailer slightly misrepresented the car, forgot to mention the hood was REPAINTED red instead of wrapped like he claimed, along with some other things, but I guess that’s what I get for buying a “cheap” car online.
On the plus, it runs phenomenal, drives how you would expect for a 58k mile Porsche. First order of business is some maintenance, going over the car and making sure everything is good to go for the season. I do 10-12 HPDEs a year so this car will see track time soon.
On a sooner rather than later list:
It looks like he has 0 or maybe slightly positive camber in the rear, will be adding more camber and a more aggressive alignment. I had my 996 with 1.5 degrees in the front and 2 degrees in the rear, handled amazing.
Changing all fluids, inspecting water pump, motor mounts, basic 911 things.
Rear bumper and side skirts have to go. Probably going to go with an OEM rear bumper, maybe a Gt3 but not sure I want to deal with fiberglass.
Painting the hood and trunk oem color, I have the original trunk to the car as well, but don’t mint the front bumper or wing.
Wish me luck! Attaching images of the car below.

Congrats! I think the changes you will do will make the car even better.
Side note: if you ever decide to do a steering wheel upgrade, I would be interested in buying the airbag trim. =)

I remember seeing this on BAT. Interesting car but the price you got it for was very fair. Good luck and it looks like the car will be in good hands with you.

Did you perform a PPI prior to purchase? .....If not, before dumping money into the asthetics, I'd get a PPI from a good Porsche Indy shop near you and find out what maintenance needs to be performed.
Probably needs oil change/filters and many items may need replacing like Water Pump/Thermostat/Coils/Plugs/Idler Pulleys & Belt service/Brakes/etc. You'd be surprised how fast the budget can shrink after doing routine and preventitive maintenance.

Love the look. Don’t be put off by Goovezilla. He is correct in advising PPI and normal preventative maintenance. Drive it because it is an amazing car and very reliable as long as everything is well maintained.

Previous owner actually had maintenance records which were not in the auction. He did plugs, coils, fluid changes, new pads and rotors. I'll put it on my lift over the weekend, but mechanically I do not see any issue to worry. This is my 5th Porsche, I am not new to fixing them / taking them to HPDE events.
