Default Wire cut on nee 991.2 steering wheel HELP

Hi fellow rennlisters,

I bought a used 991.2 steering wheel with multifunction for my 2010 c2s.

I started to take it apart to install the gps adapter in order to be able to use the mf in my non mf car.

I did notice that a blue and white wire were cut at the bottom of the wheel.

I see The white going to what looks like a ground location next to a brown and green wire.

The blue goes to the main orange connector.

I am being told it's for heated steering which my wheel doesn't have, so I won't need it.

But wanted to get your input.
Pics below
Thank you
Happy New Year

Don’t remember cutting any wires on mine but mine didn’t come with heat. Behind the center spoke is the steering heater button. See if you have it.

So it's cut that way from the factory?

Is it OK to leave that wire like that?

Thank you all!

It was a non heated wheel, i dont see any additional pieces beside the little black box that ive seen on other people's wheels.

Where did your source the steering wheel from? If it stops raining any time soon, I will take a look at the wiring harness in my Macan (which has heat). I’m thinking the harness in that steering wheel was changed with a harness from a steering wheel with heat.

Those are the wires that go to the bottom plug of the module if your wheel had heat. That plug takes 2 black + white and blue. I'd suspect porsche just leaves them in assemble to reduce part differences between wheels.

Does the 991.2 have steering wheel shake for lane departure?

Been looking at pictures of other steering wheels and both of mine. My Macan has heat, but my 997 (also has Macan steering wheel) doesn’t have heat option. None of the steering wheels I have looked at (eBay) have the this bundle of wires. All the ones I have seen only have 2 brown wire.

I wouldn't leave the ends exposed like that, for sure.

I got it from a Facebook user (ji Zhou )

So should be ok to just heat shrink the 2 exposed wires and proceed with install on my 997?

Thanks guys

Yes, heat shrink or Tesa tape would be fine. I'd insulate them individually, then shrink/tape them together before tucking them out of the way.

If you need to do something else with them, it will be obvious soon enough.
