Front-facing toddler seat recommendations
Searching the forum serves up some hits, but many are from 6+ years ago, so I wanted to see if we could get a reasonably current list of the forward-facing car seats that work in the back of a 997. I’m fine with removing the seat bottoms and backs, and cutting the carpet doesn’t worry me - what are the good car seats that we should be using for toddlers/smaller children?
My 2yr old who is well over 3ft tall is begging to be allowed to “drive with Dada.”

Britax Marathon Clicktight is a great choice for 1.5 to 4yo, and now I am using a Diono Monterey 5ist booster, which works flawlessly for my 5yo boy.
I did buy a Wayb Pico, but they are not properly securable unless you have a top tether anchor - which cabs do not, so it was returned. FYI - The Wayb Pico offers zero side-impact protection.
Remove bottom two cushions for the space needed. Not much is gained from removing the backrest but if you do, it's a triple-spline bolt, not a Torx.
Britax Marathon has narrow wings and fits well, very secure with ClickTight system.
Diono is very comfortable, huge increase in legroom and is a great belt-positioning booster.

Only 997s with the front seat child anchor kit has LATCH, it was the 991-upwards that came with it as standard. The kit for the front seat came with an airbag disable switch. Hard to find and $$$.
Your only option is belt-anchor type seats, like the ClickTight.
There is no LATCH available in the back, and retrofitting would be challenging.

The Graco slim fit 3-1 fits in the back seat - but you have to use the seatbelt, not latch. Works well, but I place behind the pax seat as I would have to scoot the seat forward for it to fit. 997.2 4S

I run a britax marathon clicktight in my 997.2 coupe for my 4 year old and it fits almost like it was made for the car. FWIW, we have taken a few longer road trips (3+ hours) and I haven't heard any complaining from the kid in regards to being uncomfortable (and she isnt shy voicing her concerns).

Britax Marathon ClickTight is a winner for me. It sits very slightly canted outboard, but is rock solid stable in place and the seat back is braced against the firewall, held securely by the tether anchor. The 911 door opening has a shocking amount of room to get the toddler in and buckled. I can drive it regularly again!

Any tricks to getting it secure? I’m still getting significant movement no matter how tight I retract the belt

I had to cant the seat a little bit outboard to get it to sit securely. Took a few tries. One of the big things was pre-tensioning the belt with the click system up, in particular removing ALL the slack from the lap belt portion, and then really ramming the click system home with one hand while holding the base against the seat back with the other. I had set the base and back where I wanted them and tensioned the top tether taut but not pulling the seat out of position. Took maybe twenty minutes to get right.
Hope that helps!

Can't quite see, but did you remove the bottom cushion and the seat back or leave in place?
Have a 3.5 year old daughter and just sold our F80 M3 for a 997 C2S... need to make this work so my wife doesn't kill me haha.

I remove the bottom 2 cushions (cab) and then follow the below procedure:
1. make sure the Marathon is as upright as possible and set the seat in place, open up the clicktight system.
2. pull out belt all the way to activate the locking pawl and hold the belt.
3. run the lower portion of the belt across to the buckle catch and ensure the belt is flat and not twisted. Latch in the buckle.
4. pull all slack out the lower belt, you will need to feed the belt through the buckle, as the buckle has an anti-submarine cinch. This is where I think most make a misstep and believe the belt is tight when it is not.
5. Make sure the upper belt is in internally aligned and let retract - you should hear the pawl clicking. Push the seat down and get all slack out.
6. close the clicktight system. If you did this right, the clicktight will be stiff to latch and may need some force to lock shut.
The seat should be rock solid with zero movement at all as long as you make sure step 4 is done right. This is when you wish for that third arm or an assistant.
I was the original poster of the Britax Marathon back in early '21 and it's very good for this purpose. My 5yo just moved to a booster seat so my steps may omit a minor detail.
I also covered the seat shell in black felt to not scratch and dim the white.
All the above is for front facing btw.
Good luck, it works, don't panic
