Default SW coding of beep on lock and mirror drop on reverse

Two small things that ive noticed on my new to me 997.1 coupe - no beep on lock and no mirror drop on reverse for parking. I did find a pretty expensive box that does both:

But wondered if either can be coded in software? Both seem entirely dooable for those with the right skills. I was able to do both on Audi's in the past via ODB port and a mobile app. But couldnt find anything obvious on the 997

On 997.2, mirror drops on reverse if the button to adjust it (on the driver's side door) is pointing to the passenger side mirror. Could it be similar on 997.1? No idea about the beep on lock though.

"Beep on Lock" can be easily achieved and at no cost by physically disabling the glove compartment light switch.

I had that same need and a probable solution some years ago and requested responses from forum members for help. Please refer to Post #20 in my original request for the solution.

Here's the link to my request: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ith-key-2.html

Unless you have memory seats, you may not have the drop mirror. Seems like these are tied together since you need to physically drop the mirror when in reverse and then select the memory button.

^ Confirmed. No memory seats=no drop mirror at least on a 2010 C4S.

I had no idea it worked like that. I didn't do that and it's a weird logic but it also makes total sense (and I bought both my cars used, so it was done for me by the previous owner I guess). You learn something new every day

Def no mirror drop for me even when on the right side - no memory seats in my car so that may explain it. Thats annoying!

thanks for the tip on the beep, it I think that’s the horn vs a more gentle acoustic beep. I’ll give it a go anyway.

Stevehugesku

i used my Foxwell NT520 Pro to turn on the beep. I looked back at my notes and it can be found under REAR.

Very easy to do.

Mine doesnt sadly, but after doing more reading it looks like the mirror drop is only on cars with memory seats (which I don't have). Looks like the only option is the mods4cars box which seems expensive for what it does!

thats awesome thx, looks like a cost effective way to do it. I wonder if it can also enable sport button and mirror drop on reverse too? hmm..

Sorry, can’t answer that. I have memory seats and my mirror drop when I put it in reverse.
