They are OEM equivalent so they should be fine: https://germanparts.ca/parts/vo1127-...il-drain-plug/

Doing my first oil change on Friday.

Thanks for your input, really appreciated!

I'm currently doing the oil change. So far so good but is the LN magnetic plug supposed to be sticking out a bit? The OEM one is flush.

Are you sure you removed the old crush washer. It often gets bonded to the sump plate and only the plug comes off. Check the old plug to see if the washer is on it. As long as you've accounted for the old washer and installed a new one, you'll be fine.

I looked at the pics of my car for comparison, but I run the MantisSport deep sump and it doesn't have the same recess the OEM sump plate does.

Yes the crush washer went with the plug. Called LN and they confirmed that it's a bit thicker and so it'll stick out a bit.

I am bumping this back up -
I do about 3k miles per year in my 997.1 C2 - I always change oil before winter storage (usually mid-October). Car sleeps with clean oil, but then usually I change the oil when I get the car out of storage too, for a total of two oil changes per year. I often see people mention that every six months is the longest they'd go between oil changes, but if the car is literally sitting with clean oil in it, is it dumb to do a second change in spring?

Yes,, your Spring oil change is totally unnecessary. Based on my personal UOA reports, mileage is far more important than time. The 1 year change interval on my Cayenne at 5k miles looked identical to the 2 year change interval at 5k miles when I drove less.

Ok! So for a "typical" 997 owner in areas where you get snow/winter and don't drive due to salt, I'm calling it now best practice - do an oil change before storage, and do your next oil change next time before storage.
