Hi all,
My first post!
I've got a driver door lock that won't lock or unlock using the key... Power locks work fine.
I haven't taken the door apart yet, but I would bet money that the plastic flex-connector is broken like this thread: Driver Door Lock - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums
And this one: Plastic lock cylinder paddle broken - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums
I've tried searching and can't find any good resolution to this problem, other than going to the dealer and having a new lock keyed in Germany.
Has anyone found a good (ie- cost-effective) fix for this problem?
Not my picture, but I expect my plastic flex-paddle to look like this and be rattling around in the bottom of the door...
I wound up having a door lock issues with mine. I wound up ordering thr part you have to pull on. After I got the panel off i discovered I only needed a piece off the assembly.
Thanks.
I ordered a used handle assembly and found that I actually didn't need any parts. PO says the dealer replaced door latch and they apparently botched the re-assembly. That white plastic flex link just wasn't inserted in the corresponding slot in the door latch.
I don't understand why the posters in those other threads thought the white plastic flex link couldn't be replaced. It's held on by an external snap ring and is very easily removed. Pictures attached for anybody researching a broken flex link, or cord as described in the other threads.
Reassembly was really fiddly. I had to remove both the handle and the latch, wrangle them into the door cavity, insert the flex-link into the latch, and then move both into position together. I didn't see any way to stab the flex-link with the latch in place.
MAKE SURE TO HAVE A 6MM TRIPPLE-SQUARE SOCKET BEFORE YOU START THIS. The latch fasteners are 12-point, not Torx.
