I had the Fister hack done to my 2009 997.2 S . A friend who is a oil pipeline welder cut the holes first using drill bits then cutting wheels. He then finished the holes by deburring them. We used 304 Stainless steel 1.75 " in diameter. The welds were then done with SS rods. He said he was not going to use a plasma cutter as that changes the metallurgy and spits. He also did not want to use carbon steel pipe.
After starting the car it is now extremely quiet. In sports mode it is also extremely subdued. It feels now like a quiet luxury car which makes no sense what happened ??
I first removed the third muffler, replaced with Billy Boat bypass pipes. That sounded good, but I wanted more. Fisters made it all sound like it should. Very happy with setup.
Thats kinda odd that it came out that way, I actually sent mine out to Fister and there was a night and day difference in exhaust tone. It's quiet if you shift below 2500 rpms, above that and it really screams in a good way.
I bought mine directly from Fister in Calif. In combination with Soul 200-cell cats, it is a pretty darned loud exhaust. It has a great tone with burbles and blaps on downshifts. It is surprising that your mod isn't producing louder exhaust sound. As Workhurts asks, can you share some photos of the pre- and post-modified cans?

The 997.2 has a center muffler. Us 997.1 guys don't have one.
FisterD (S) exhaust on mine with (S) tips, it sounds as the car should, its just rowdy enough.

The 997.2 Carreras are not loud cars, no matter what DIY crimes of timbre mutilation you conspire to commit.
If you want loud, race car loud, buy a 360 Stradale with some sort of cup exhaust. There is one in my suburb, and man, that thing is ungodly loud!
It can broadcast its rolling location for kilometres! I love it.
When my car was being serviced at the dealer when I purchased it, they sent me this pic during the process. It appears the previous owner had already done this mod. Idle and normal cruise are very quiet, but when you get on the throttle, the sound really comes alive.
