Rear tray "super" hot.
So rarely do I post here for a problem but I'm not really sure if theres one. Today I made a run to Houston {1.5} hour drive then back. I removed the rear carpet that covers the electronics tray to check something entirely different. When I put my hand on the tray it was so hot I could barely touch it. {both sides}
Cars runs flawlessly, zero hiccups but just bothers me that it gets so hot. Normal? {06 997}
Thanks.

Honestly, I've never been back there under the sub after driving the car so I don't know how hot it gets but it wouldn't surprise me with the muffler location if it gets hot there.

Sadly it not near anything. Its the tray thats right behind the pass seat backs. I just assume the electronics get hot. Really weird. No problem though.

Interesting... in the last 10 years or so of following these forums, your discovery is the first. I've pulled that stuff back a few times, but always when the car was cold. The whole area is covered by insulation for sound so I am not surprised it gets toasty as any electronics generate heat... and the engine is under there too.
Peace

Toasty is an understatement. I couldnt keep my hand on it. Yet I would've never known this had I not pulled the cover to check the bolts on my cage. It was also 97 degrees today but with the cover as insulation {no back window tint} I still feel it was hotter than expected. Possibly almost 2 hours of driving with the sun bearing down maybe could've been a part of that. Still, how good can that be on those electronics.

This doesn't sound surprising given that you're essentially touching the outside of the engine bay. The metal is relatively thin and inches from the top of your flat6. If you're worried, you could use a temp gun to see how hot the metal inside the engine bay is vs the rear tray, but I'd expect they are similar.
