Default 997.1 Sport Exhaust Note

Hello everyone. I've searched the forums and couldn't find exactly what I wanted to know. My objective is to increase the sound of the factory sport exhaust. I'm pleased with the exhaust note when not in the sport mode but would like to hear a little more from the sport setting. I'd prefer to not replace the entire system and want to maintain the originality of the car. Is this achievable without irreversible changes? Any tips or advice is welcome.

I would strongly recommend 200 Cell Cats - they will change the sound and make the car come alive -

I'm assuming this is reversible if and when I sell the car. Does the standard note change much?
Thanks!

Adding cats to PSE is a radical change. Tried them and took them off. Adding headers (X51 here) changed the note more subtly and made PSE much deeper in tone.

The PSE system sounds great when the solenoid is disconnected. PSE on all the time. Nice burble at lower RPMS.

Why isn't that the same as just activating PSE on startup?

I've got a X51 car and love the tone it makes but wish it was louder and a bit more aggressive. I would like to get the volume level of my dad's 991.1 PSE. I'm planning on adding Fabspeed sport cats to my 997.1 this year but would love to know if the volume is similar.

These things are very subjective, but I was thinking the same thing after hitting the track for the first time (X51 headers + PSE). Windows down, helmet on, car was just quiet enough that I couldn't reliably shift by sound. Cats definitely added volume, but it ruined the tone for me. Ended up swapping the PSE for the FVD valved exhaust this week (stock cats back on), and from limited experience it seems like a good middle ground between PSE and PSE + Cats -- both in terms of volume and tone.

The 997.1 PSE closes at certain RPM ranges at lower speed, even when it's activated on startup. Unplugging the solenoid, or putting in an aftermarket control, keeps it consistently louder. Not sure if that's what the OP is looking for or not.

Here's a clip of what the X51 headers sound like with PSE

Exactly....its very burbly in those lower RPMs, instead of the flat tone when they are closed.

Its a FREE mod that may achieve what you are looking for. Don't like it, simply plug the solenoid back in.

Okay I learned something new. Perhaps I should try that first and see how that sounds. Are the solenoids difficult to disconnect?

Thanks!

The unplug mod is easy. Did it immediately but ended up getting the Carnewal keyfob controller to have the option of going quiet.

If you have a non-X51 engine the plug is on the right side in plain view. See link. On the X51 its on the left side and more hidden (scroll down in link for pic)

It is completely subjective which makes forum chats on this difficult. It took 3 years to find a suitable exhaust for my RSX and I never found a good one for my 350z. If you don't mind me asking, did you have a x-pipe set up or crossover pipe? I have a friend with crossover pipes and I'm not a fan of the exhaust note. I've thought about going with an aftermarket valved exhaust but I do like the different diameter tips on the PSE.

The unplug mod is easy, but I find myself wanting to be permanently in loud mode while also permanently in sport mode in terms of throttle mapping. The unplug mod puts you in permanent loud mode but keeps you in stock throttle mapping unless you engage the sport button, so it doesn't really save you time if you want both.

I suppose the solution to my problem is to unplug and get a Sprint Booster so I can be in loud mode and sharper throttle mapping full time.
