Options differences which 997.1 to buy ?
Hello
I am new into Porsche and I am looking to buy my first 997.1
I would love to have your input about the value of the options that are on each cars to see which one would hold more into its value. I love both cars and would be happy with either so it becomes a bit difficult for the choice and reselling the car later could be an option as well.
Both cars have done the IMS service and have manual transmission. The car 1 would be about $2,000 more expensive than the car 2.
Please help me understand if the options or body color are equivalent to the other one with half the mileage.
Car 1
2007
997.1 Carrera S
White
57,000 km
sport chrono package
sport seats
black interior
seat heater
aftermarket exhaust manifold
GT3 aero kit for front bumper and trunk
minus : missing some maintenance records and big dent on the front fender (apple size)
Car 2
2004 model 2005
997.1 Carrera S
Yellow
110,000 km
full leather on dashboard
Adaptative sport seats
black interior
seat heater
modified genuine exhaust to make more noise
aftermarket wheels
Sprint booster throttle controller
Full maintenance records
alcantara headliner
recent coating on the body

Get the nicest one you can afford. Period. I'm not at all a fan of buying someone else's mods but you do you.
Might be contrarian logic, but in my opinion for cars that are now 15+ years old, features and options back then may turn into headaches now when they start to fail and/or age. I've had both. I now have a fairly basic .2 coupe and don't miss any of the fancy buttons, settings and switches I had on my other two before it. Auto dimming mirrors at this stage are about the most valuable thing to me.

GT3 aero kit plus the dent tells me all I need to know about car 1 (pass on it).
Car 2 might be fine. Honestly, you need to know condition and care. Ideally a thorough inspection at that mileage OR a low enough price to not care.

Really different cars. Color, miles and I assume price.
I would look at options that you need. Auto/manual, S/4S/Base, color. Then go from there.
As has been said buy the newest one you can. Do the PPI.
I personally would rather have a 997.2 base over a 997.1S.
Full leather is a must in my opinion.

For some reason 997.2 are all in PDK over here.
The broker told me I could get both for for about the same price. The white one would be about $2,000 more expensive than yellow.

I would not go near an early 997.1 unless it had the IMS addressed. If not, I’d say better than 50/50 it could let go soon and then you have a yellow paperweight.
Aero kit cars to me a substantial premium as long as it is an OE Porsche kit whether original or properly added on later. The lower miles is also truly a plus. Fixable digs in the body work are easily addressed.
Car 2 is si much better than car 1, it makes me wonder why prices are somewhat close.

In Japan the IMS was part of a "recall", so almost every cars have been taken by Porsche center for IMS replacement.
Prices in Japan are quite difficult to understand. There was also a 997.2 c2s with PDK and sport chrono for the same price as the car 2 yellow c2s.

Bote score an equally large issue on both, but maybe still confirm the INS was replaced or upgraded.
