I have put together a new vinyl coated braided stainless steel tether for the 997.
It's a direct fit.
Just pop out the two pins at the cap and the 1 rivet at the lid and swap it out.
It's a more durable and stylish replacement to the rubber oem one.
ive put a lot of effort into getting it just right, functioning and looks. I'm doing a 1yr warranty on it. If it breaks, ill send you a new one free.

997.1 How do you remove/replace tether on gas cap? Does cap come apart? Tether is too solid to stretch over.
