Default 2011 997 ac not working

I bought this 2011 997 with the ac not working. I thought I might be low on refrigerant so I bought a can of AC PRO and was only able to put in a bit, but would not get above the red zone after trying for half an hour, and the little bit I was able to put in, in an instant dropped to Zero. Is that an indication that the evaporator is very likely the issue and not something else.

long shot, but check all fuses. I had one (hvac fan) that simply lost contact although the fuse was intact. pulling and reinserting the fuse was all it needed. so I did that to all fuses as a preventative measure to ensure all contact surfaces were good.

The compressor has to be engaged in order to add refrigerant and only do it from the low side port and as a gas (can right side up). If the system is so low that the low pressure switch won't allow the compressor to engage, you'll need to jumper that switch to get any in

I had an AC problem... read the codes. The system is pretty good at telling you what is wrong.

You can get codes read for free at any Autozone.

Your 2011 is a 997.2 car and the AC does not work exactly like the ole timey AC systems you may be familiar with. There is no clutch that you can go look at to see if it is engaged. Like Bruce says, read the codes, check the pressures if you have gages and go from there. I doubt that it is a serious issue.

Good thought will try that as its the easier and less expensive route.

Didn't know that as my Mini was low but compressor was still running and it took the refrigerant without an issue a few years ago and is still running without having to top off.
I was hoping the P car would react the same as the Mini.

I don't know if it has any codes but will get over to O'Reilly's as soon as spring arrives.

I would invest in a Durametric Cable or something similar.

Always nice to have around the house to pull codes and clear things.

Plus you can run logs and even get your DME report if/when you sell a car.

Re the cost, they also retain their value so it’s not like you’ll lose all your $$.

I experienced a similar problem and finally was able to located a leak in the drivers side condenser. I need to order a new condenser.

Good luck!
