Default Steering Wheel Help

Hello all, I'm the proud new owner of a minty Slate Grey 997.1 C2. I'm doing a custom interior on the car and am considering swapping the steering wheel with one from a 991. Is it true that the control module does not need replaced if not using multi function? I would not need buttons, but would need paddle shifters to work. Thank you in advance!

Not sure how you could possibly rig up the paddle shifters to work properly with a Tiptronic...

Perhaps someone has done it, but I'm not aware of it.
