Default 997 autolight kit based on VW switch

My friend created 997 autolight based on VW factory light switch.
Completely plug and play installation and no need to cut/solder original wire harness.
You only have to connect constant 12V source from fuse box near your left foot.
VW switch is physically compatible with 997 factory switch but internal circuit is completely different and requires many tweaks.
Also illumination back light LEDs are swapped from VW original "red" color to white which matches Porsche factory illumination.
Very clean installation!!

Very small ambient light sensor

I believe so the lights come on and more importantly shut off without having to manually do it. I’ve forgotten to turn them off once before to the tune of a new battery because every other car I drive has automatic lights.

https://autolightsystems.com/

no affiliation-just had had my eye on it and this post reminded me.

Twice the price.
So, what mods were required?

Thanks for pointing out the possibility to realize this. But what i really appreciate is the fact that the thinking is not taken out of my hand. That's why I drive (quite old) cars that don't have these modern gimmicks (start/stop, cornering light etc.), because i want to decide when the light comes on; if i drive 100m through a small tunnel and the light comes on and immediately goes off again is not beneficial to the life of the bulb. The fewer such features the better. Just my 5ct.

Thanks for sharing info, I didn't know this product.
Wow 650 EUR = 650 USD = 92000 JPY!!

The mod are:
1) Simply put, VW switch is power side switching, but Porsche requires ground side switching. Therefore circuit polarity need to be reversed.
2) VW switch illumination is red but Porsche is white. Surface mounted LEDs shown in photo below are swapped.

Neat that people are still developing mods and tweaks for these cars, but at that price, I'll take the literally 1 second to turn the dial and not have the sensors stuck on top of my dash. Since the car beeps at you if you leave them on, don't see the value there either.

i always found it annoying that the 997 didn't have this as even my 99 jaguar had auto lights.
Nice clean solution, so I say good job for doing it!

Wonder if there is an Audi switch with white illumination out there that could do the same thing?

E' possibile utilizzare solo il sensore luce di questo kit e collegarlo al devio originale della 997 ?
