"Shooting a parts cannon at a problem is OK if it is me shooting. When it's a pro - not so much".

THIS is the best quote I've read in awhile Lol! $175/hr dealership labor rate adds up fast. Add in the ability to buy factory or OEM at a fraction of the cost, and I am typically saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars over taking it to a dealership. Plus I always learn something new about my car. However, I have 30yrs of taking cars apart--and a lift now, which makes it much more tolerable on my beat up joints. Great thread. Thanks for sharing. My 09' PASM C4S is due for a big suspension refresh. These add up fast.

Almost 150K miles on my 2010 C4S and my suspension parts are all day one from the factory. I'm looking forward to parts lists and impressions when things are put back together!!!

I have been doing research all day
And I don't mean to beat myself but I am the person who found correct lubrication alternative for the convertible top maintenance

The TA is for high temp
The HT is for high temp and pressure

So the alternatives are

Permeatex with nickel
Loctite heavy duty

Or grainger sells a bunch

But in all my research I can only silver or black in color. Not copper.

I may be ok with a different color of grease on my axle since the top of my wheel wells are now black.

I have done suspension on different cars at different times from 50k-250k miles and I am happy to share my experience after taking apart my 911 because I know you all want to hear it

Compared to cheaper cars Porsche parts are way better and last longer. I don't agree with the change at 50k.

My coffin arms are perfect. The ball joints are still tight.
The sway bar links are still factory fresh
The tie rod ends are still tight
The ?lower control arm the bushings are wobbly so I'm replacing those.
The shocks/struts were still good
The strut mounts were still good
The bearings were frozen

The strut mount was frozen to the shock so I had to create some carnage

So if you are not having and symptoms leave it alone

That's not "gold color", that is copper.

Peace

Well almost everything is here or on its way

Heavy duty copper grease - check
600lb torque wrench - check
Brake line I messed up - check (Sunset Porsche had the last one in the country in stock. FCP could not get one until mid November)
Wife out of town for the weekend and all kids gone - check

This is my assembly area
Attachment 1331993

As fast as parts - not sure if the lower control arms were bad. I ordered the meyle arms from FCP and the bushing is definitely tighter - but it is smaller (and guaranteed for life)

This is why I scan the posts here. Always get new ideas. My wife is afraid of the dishwasher and never uses it. Don't ask. But now I have a use for it! I hope it doesn't melt the wheel well liners.

Use the lower tray for plastic parts. Or remove parts before the drying cycle. Rinse and hold is another option but doesn't do as good a job at cleaning.

Ok. This arrived sooner than I thought. If the copper grease comes in today car will be back together tomorrow.

Anyone needs their nuts torqued?

$189. Looked like it came form a business closure in Canada. They had a bunch of them. This is my third axle this year so I figured it was worth the investment.

Not on this car but other cars.
