Finishing the NM unit install and the space / fit behind the ac controls makes the cables really stressed, especially the blue coax on the NM box. If you’ve done this, where did you put the car play box? Suggestions welcome.

 

I put mine in the glove compartment. Relocated the manual to the frunk.

 

I put my 9xx unit on the hump to the right of the gas pedal ... 2010 C4S. The cables exited the left side of the PCM carriage. It was a tight fit for the box.

When we installed an NM unit on a friend's GTS his carpet was thicker and the unit would not squeeze in there. So we routed the cables out the right side of the PCM carriage and removed the thin rubbery cover under the glove box, squeezing the NM box in there.

 

It can easily be placed behind the air conditioning control

 

i tried and it does fit but it pinches the cables. I faced it with the cables to the front of the car. Is that the way you did it?

 

Thanks. I will look at the drivers side area. I pulled the foam cover out but I don’t see any way to anchor it to the underneath of the plastic box there? I assume that’s the evaporator? Did you just lay it on top of the foam or anchor it somehow?

 

Under the glove box, for me.

 

Just laid it in. It nests nicely without rattling. Routed the cables in through the top of the area.

 

I barely squeezed it behind the pcm. Ran it up through the passenger side. Was tight but glad so it wouldn’t make noise.

 

Put the box in the footwell.

 

That's where my 9xx unit sits. The GTS had thicker carpet and I couldn't squeeze the NM box into the same space, so we used near to the floor below the glove box instead.

It really doesn't matter where it goes as long as it fits and is secure.

I made another thread asking about two connectors I noticed behind the lower controls of the center stack. One is a purple coax antenna of some kind and the other is a small 4 or 5 pin black connection. I don’t recall disconnecting these when I removed the console. Any ideas what they go to?

 

did you double-side tape it to the evaporator?
