Default Porsche-Approved A40 Oil List

2009 C2S 180K miles

Thought I would post this... maybe others can find something more up to date. This from August 26, 2019

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...66908-0001.pdf

This list is handy especially if you take a wrong turn in Cleveland off Euclid avenue and find yourself in Kuwait near the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre and needing a liter. Hey it happens.

Crazy things would happen at the Euclid Tavern, where I woke up on the floor one time with some short n' chubby chick in my arms. Hey it happened.

Peace

Wow I haven’t thought of that place since the mid 90’s!

Good info, but I'll file it next to my N-spec tires list. There should always be a spare quart of oil in the car of whatever oil is in the crankcase.

Hi Bruce,
Long time no see.

1. Thank you for posting. Very Valuable. Haven't seen A40 list in a long time.

2. I am sick and tired of all inconsistencies in Porsche oil recommendations.
As per A40 from your link:
Model Year: As of 1984

As per Porsche, link below:
https://www.porsche.com/filestore.as...defaultPorsche

Classic Motoroil.
Specially designed for classical air-cooled flat engines:
20W-50 for 356, 914 and early 911 models
10W-60 for 911 models with 3.0-litre or bigger engines

Well, 1984 is a 3.2 Carrera and newer.

In addition to that:
Porsche Classic Oil 5W-50 "specifically formulated" for 996 and 986 models which are basically identical to 997.1 engines.

Your car, your choice.

Cheers,
Luxter
