Default Rim selection for autocross

Hello All,

I have taken up autocross with my 2010 C2S running the Carrera II 19" wheels and standard all weather tires. I'm thinking of getting a set of new rims and tires just for auto crossing. I have spoken with people about moving down to 18" rims and getting cup2 tires. Does anyone have any experience using 18" wheels and changing the offset to push them out more and maybe increasing the width? The plan would be to use these only for autocross and swap them every time.

Thanks
Hartman

As long as you don't have PCCBs, 18s will fit over the front calipers. Find a used set of forged wheels or get some OZ ultralegerras as they're not too expensive and are very light. Problem is (though not.really), you'll love the way the car stops, accelerates and handles with the lighter wheels and will then have two buy a 2ndnswt in 19s.

On an 8.5" wide front wheel an offset of 50 is just about perfect.

Depending on which group you run with, changing the rim width and/or adding spacers can affect your car classification.

Just an FYI if you weren’t aware of that.

Thanks.
