The license plate mounted one is inconspicuous if mounted properly. This is what I used. No drilling holes - except in the gromet in the right rear of the car behind the taillight to run the wires. Very easy to install. The night vision is decent too - helps me back into my garage at night.

Secondly & a little off-topic, but I also added a microphone at the same time to hook up to my GoPro since I had the interior removed to run wires. It's a nice-to-have if you shoot video while driving. It makes for a very clean sounding dash video.

Mine came with an aftermarket front/backup camera integrated into the rear view mirror with video recording and it also has the factory back up sensors. I haven’t used the camera in over 2 years and will probably remove it.

I'm not a big fan of mine.
Its a Kenwood HD CMOS 740HD camera and it matches my Kenwood HD Head Unit.
The quality is amazing (it better be for the price I paid) but I didn't know when I ordered it that it would mount the way it does with a bracket that hangs low and swivels.
Wouldn't mind swapping it out one day for a more discreet camera.

Nav TV has a good camera called the Camera 6. According to MusicarNW they had great success with this unit on 911s. It ain't cheap but I've had tons of issues with my amazon 40 dollar camera. Upgrading to this camera 6 and will report back to see how it holds up.

what device are you using your camera with, my $40 camera has been excellent with my NM unit. In my 997.2S
if you have a 997.1 your problems may be different!

During track days the camera would stop working after sessions. Then would be return later. very heavy rain cause an intermittent issue as well. I just tested my NAV TV Camera 6 at a trackday in Oliver, BC. 94 F day and the camera worked after each session backing into my spot. YMMV. Photo below.

I had the blocky license plate bracket type of rear camera (for this type of rear camera, i got the NON fishEYE lens as I thought the bumperette would eat too much of frame when reversing).

It functioned fine, but i kept on noticing how much it 'stuck out' visually.

So i ordered a few of the most OEM looking one (https://www.ebay.com/itm/39344648193...0AAOSwZ~pgnBr4) I could find and swapped it out the other day, both me + my brothers cars.

It does require drilling a hole into the bumper (comes with the cutting tool) and I know that may not be cool with some here.

This new one is is practically invisible (especially with my plate bracket), but my brothers car is white + with a white plate (no frame) it was barely perceptible.

Looks completely factory.

I forgot to take a photo of my bros car but will try to get a photo.

OLD - licence plate light mounted camera

NEW one drilled + mounted.

new camera - even fixed my crooked plate problem.

for this center mounted camera, I opted for the full fishEye rear camera, similar to my old oem lexus daily driver FOV.

it was simple for me to decently 'center' it - just used the bumperettes as the guides

I will be installing an identical camera as a front parking camera shortly.

Default Decided to drill the bumper

I gave up on the plate mounted options and drilled the bumper.
