Only you can answer that question. The factors of keeping miles off your 991, manual vs automatic and spending money on a 40k commuter are pretty personal.

I wouldn’t daily a 997 that far due to maintenance costs and that much stop and go traffic with a manual transmission. Now a 997.2 pdk or Panamera I would be more open to. Likely I would go with the Panny as I would replace the Audi and it’s more useful.

 

Lots of stop n go in my manual 997.1 is no fun. Not really fair to the car either. Might be a deal breaker for me.

 

So there are many aspects as to why I'd rather daily a 997 vs my 991. Mainly, racking miles on a $100k+ car doesn't settle well for me. And the idea of replacing rear tires every 8k-10k miles doesn't flow right either. My car has centerlocks, no spare, the list goes on. So, practicality wise, short of selling or trading my 991 (which is not happening, I bought it as a "toy"), a 997 would be a better buy to daily. Decent example 991s are still selling for 60k+, and as you guys/gals know, theres a nice spread for 997s (30s and up). I'm not afraid of scratch and dent cars or ones with higher mileage, etc... I'm sure there are plenty more examples too.

 

If you were to daily your 991, how much would do you think would be the additional $$ for wear and tear and maintenance above what you're currently shelling out as a non-daily?
