Default Is it dangerous to drive with a defective rear shock mount

I heard some noises from the passenger side wheel area when driving over paint stripes on the road and checked it. Seems to be the rear shock mount.... is it dangerous to drive the car spiritedly? Might do some canyon driving this weekend? No noises when just driving without the road bumps...

I mean...probably nothing would happen, but do you really wanna go out and beat on the car with this in the back of your mind?

Is it noise due to major wear or something cracked or is it just minor play?

Do a parking lot test, few figure 8s and skid pad like test; see if there is any type of snap oversteer or major noise or issues at the limit especially when changing direction.

Mine was clunking for a year before I finally got around to replacing it, and y'all know how I drive.

2009 C2S 179K miles

Totally my opinion: Car makers do not make super robust parts, except for major infrastructure components such as steering links, brake pedals, and suspension parts. When was the last time you heard someone pressed the brake pedal too hard and broke it? On any make? You can drive a car with all suspension bushings rotted out and the wheels will still not fall off. Again, when did you hear about a wheel flying off (that wasn't due to some stupid human error)? Supension parts will drive you nuts or shake you silly (or the other way around) way before they will fail. Again, my opinion.

Peace

I think you should be fine if noise is from rear upper mount for a weekend drive. It will not detach like front when rubber disintegrates. I would get them replaced after the trip though.

Porsche put foam coated disk (yellow part) and it has aluminum top cover. When the foam on the disk disintegrate, it will be metal disk to metal top and bottom mount housing (and that's your source of noise).
