I don't think you need to program with PIWIS, had mine installed at Indy shop. If you try without be sure to write down all the numbers on them so you can get it fixed later if it doesn't work.

Here's the link should anyone be interested: https://www.tpmsdirect.com/Porsche_9...008-05-uvs.htm
I will follow everyone’s advice and change the Sensors.
Thanks for the link, but I noticed the sensors that are are $32 each are for the 997.2 turbo. The Non-turbo are listed for $70 each. Do the Turbo work on the non-turbo?
Discount Tire was quoting me $60 each, but I would rather get the HUF brand.

I don’t have TMPS in my 06, but I wish I did. I might pick up a set of the Huf’s if it doesn’t require a dealer visit to get them going. Could it be done with a Foxwell or something?

You also need the receiver on the car. Since you don’t have TPMS, I doubt you have the receiver and associated wiring.

OK, then it’s a non-starter. In hindsight, that seems pretty obvious. Thanks.

Disabled my TPMS in my 07. I smile every time I recall that day.

There shouldn't be problem since both the Turbo and Non-Turbo sensors shown are the same frequency (433MHz) and even the same Porsche part number. However and if to want to play it safe and still get a great price try these: https://www.tpmsbargains.com/Huf-Int...m-0912-911.htm

On 997.2... with the correct sensors no need to do anything.

There are two different Huf options via tpmsdirect.com. No clue what the differences are nor which ones are the ones installed from the factory. Any insight from those that have previous experience?

I just went through this exercise. From what I can figure, the IntelliSens sensors are universal parts that get programmed by the vendor (or end user). The other sensors are programmed at the factory. The IntelliSens units allow tire stores, repair shops, etc. to stock one part that then gets programmed to its application. I purchased the IntelliSens units and TPMSdirect programmed them for my application. Caveat - I haven't installed them yet but I expect them to work fine.

Gotcha…. From what I have seen online the black sensors are more like the factory units.

For the 997.2 you need not program anything! Just install, drive away and within a couple of miles they will automatically synchronize with the car's TPMS.

How do I know? Because that's what I did with mine on the advice of some forum member. These should work just fine on a 997.2 NON-TURBO https://www.tpmsbargains.com/Huf-Int...m-0912-911.htm

BTW, your so called "factory units" are not since Porsche does not make these sensors. The only thing Porsche does at the factory is install them and that's even questionable since I'm sure that the wheels and tires are supplied by an outside source and Huf seems to be their vendor/supplier for the sensors.
