Question Unknown Part / Option

Hi all,

Newcomer to the 997.1 world, but glad to say I've have picked up a 2005 C2S in Seal Grey. Purchased it from an off-site location and was given pictures of the car.

Does any member have any idea what this red dial is? Function? Aftermarket, Custom, etc?

Looking to identify the red dial's function beneath the Sport buttons.

Any help would be great!

Drift mode controller.

Just kidding. No idea, but not stock. It's some kind of aftermarket thing.

are those LED diodes on either side? If so then I repeat its a radar detector and the LEDs would indicate front vs rear signal direction

Failing radar detector, could be an aftermarket subwoofer volume control.

The side trim pieces of the center stack are easy to remove. Take ‘em off and you should be able to see what’s lurking behind the mystery ****, or at least trace the wiring to its source.

Whatever it is, not particularly well done from an aesthetics perspective.

Not to mention my loss of even more easy access space in the car. Well, I've have the car in hand by next week so I'll keep everyone posted with what it ends up being. Already planned to take the headunit area apart to put in the rennline phone mount in.

If this thing is an aftermarket subwoofer, expect my cries to be heard.
I can live with it if its a radar detector for some more spirited driving...still quite an ugly install.

Actually, depending on what they did with a subwoofer, you might be happy. No one raves about the Bose system in a 997. I swapped all my speakers for Focals and installed compact Utopia Subs in my rear sub enclosure - looks the same just works much better. This weekend I may actually upgrade the amp to drive them better since they're a bit more power hungry.

I installed my adjustment **** on the edge of my seat for easy access but mostly hidden.
