Fuel Additives
After watching a PCA video about types of fuels, octane level, top tier vs generic and cleaners I was wondering if any is using additional cleaners like Red Line SI-1. Im trying to balance my desire do everything I can to make my car perfect vs my intuition that say just stick to Top Tier fuels.
In this video they suggest using a bottle of PEA only cleaner once a year.

Take a look at this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ea-or-nay.html and in it is a Knowledge Gruppe fuel additives video too.

I've always just run Chevron or Shell in my "nice" cars and never had a fuel-related issue in 20 years. Additive packages in top tier fuels do a great job in keeping the fuel system clean. I've removed, inspected, tested, injectors from these cars during routine servicing and not once had an issue. Worth the extra few bucks here and there.

The question to me is whether or not you store your car during the winter months, and if so, if you've added anything to preserve the fuel in the tank while the car is dormant. Fuel of course gets stale and when that happens, varnish forms. Then when you do run the engine with that fuel, it gets distributed throughout the fuel system. Worse yet is if you store the car for extended periods in warm weather as the fuel will oxidize more quickly in a heated environment. In those instances, even using a top tier fuel such as Chevron or Shell will not prevent the problems from occurring.
I think the best advice would be to use an additive such as StaBil 360 as ADias has conveyed - especially if you're storing the car.
It's also been broadly communicated via this forum that it would also make sense to use a product such as Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner at least once a year (just prior to an oil change) to help break down any deposits that may have formed within the engine.
