Default Condensation Problem

Having a problem with my Boxster and looking for some guidance. Foam starting coming out of the air vents, stopped and now my windshield gets exterior condensation. Very annoying since running around with wipers on all the time. Seems cold air is leading from the defrost, hitting the windshield and causing the fog. I live in Florida where it’s hot and humid so turning down my AC or having it come out of the footwell is not an option.

I’ve looked at all the DIY videos on YouTube talking about the foam problem, but they don’t address my particular problem. Many thanks in advance for any help.

A mechanic that works at the local Porsche dealership told me it's an issue with some flap that keeps the cold air from not going out the defrost that those YouTube videos do not address. Told me some foam falls off the flap and then the problem starts, which is consistent with my case. He also told me it's an expensive repair that requires the removal of the whole dash. Wish I could find a solution other than the expensive repair :-(

This fix does not address the issue I have nor do I believe that @ralph1461 has. The heater fix is for the foam on the heater flap, which causes the heater air not to be hot enough. My problem is with the air conditioner flap, which is not the same one.

Have the same issue.. agree with mechanic expensive repair for a trivial problem.. i just put a strip of square foam, the ones they use for insulating window type acs, on the edge of the dash by the windshield.. just squeeze that foam there.. no more condensation except from the speaker holes... these can also be closed off if you like.. but I am not bothered by it so let it be... yah the condensation is annoying, but this fixed it... if you have a black dash there is a rubber mounding specifically made to be placed in that place. I will try to get the link

I had the same problem with my car. The fome started and then stopped shortly after. But what never went away was the resulting exterior condensation, which made it difficult to drive at night or anything other than perfect atmospheric conditions. Solved my problem by selling the Cayman. (Joined to look for a newer one.)

This foam breaking down over time and blowing thru air vents also happens in the 996.

I've tried that looking for a more professional solution. My car is in perfect condition.

For a couple years now, dealing with the same problem on my 997.2. Don't want to pay the cost of the repair and have the dash removed even though its very frustrating! Would love to find a solution...
