997.2 with side muffler delete?
Hi Rennlist,
I just picked up a 2009 C4S with the standard exhaust and am looking for more exhaust sound. Does anyone here have experience running a fabspeed side muffler delete with the OEM center muffler? The clips that I've heard on youtube of full catback exhaust systems seem too quiet to me, but it could just be the sound quality of the videos since all of them seem to have been recorded over 10 years ago when cell phone mics weren't as good. I had a muffler delete on my 997.1 and the drone was terrible. However, the 997.1 doesn't have a center muffler so it was essentially straight piped. Since the 997.2 has a center muffler, I'm thinking it will be more muffled.
Thanks,
Joe

Seems the consensus is to start with center muffler replacement. I’ve done center muffler bypass and gundo hack on side mufflers on my 997.2 C2 and love it. Great growl when getting on it and Zero drone.

Don't delete the sis mufflers. You'll like it for 3 minutes. Delete the center muffler and either gundo hack the side mufflers or replace with aftermarket - Fabspeed, FVD, IPE, Tubi, etc depending on the tone you like.

On my 2012 C2S I first did the fabspeed center (too quiet). Tried with no side mufflers (raspy and sounded bad). Then went with top gear valved mufflers (LOVE them) - https://www.topgear-eurosport.com/po...alved-cat-back
I since added the race cat headers as well. Sound is just what I wanted. Valves closed and below 4000rpm isn't loud but open them up and rev it out and the thing screams (in a good way)

All, thanks for the replies! Based on the feedback, I've decided to nix the idea of going with a side muffler delete. I've purchased fabspeed's center muffler bypass and maxflow mufflers. The center muffler bypass will be delivered first as the maxflow mufflers still need to be made. I'm excited to do the install in stages. I may have a muffler shop to the gundo mod while I wait for the maxflow mufflers - we'll see.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Joe
