System 1 Filtration spin-on filter for M97?
I'm having a hard time finding a 51042XP spin-on filter for my LNE-converted-spin-on housing on my M97.
I came across a System 1 Filtration reusable mesh spin-on filter (p/n 210-361?) for about $175.
Does anyone have any experience with this unit? Good? Bad?

For LN spin on filter replacement, you can use Napa Gold 1042 or Wix 51042. I never had any issue finding them at Napa autoparts. It us basically the same filter used in C5 Corvette.

I do believe it but wanted to learn about a different item and/or get a tip on a sourcing of a specific submodel of the Wix.

Unsure of that system one, but wix makes Napa filters. The XP and platinum are equivalents. That series gives some filter efficiency away for longevity, hence why the gold series is preferred.
check out bob the oil guy there are countless threads.
oreillys says they have them?

It's my understanding the xp will flow more (unbypassed) under the conditions where flow is really needed and that is better than a more x-size-particle-efficiency because more for would be being bypassed (therefore 0pct efficiency for filtering).
The system 1 claims 35u very very high efficiency at much much better flow rate.
Just trying to gain real world experiences from Porsche enthusiasts or racers for the system 1.

Aren't the System 1 Filtration reusable mesh spin-on filter used for older American muscle cars ? Regardless why on gods green earth would you bother with reusable filters of any type for that matter when you have as suggested excellent disposable filters easily obtainable for cheap ?? Who want's to clean bloody filters of any type ? Screw that ...

Probably more appropriate for racers since they want to inspect the filter after every race/practice (frequent changes).

I doubt you'll make a dent reusing an oil filter, especially with the waste water you'll create washing it. You'd do much more good by simply recycling your oil.
If you want to know the contents of your filter, why not buy a oil filter cutter and call it a day?
Seems like less asking for advice and more confirmation for your position, but now you're so committed to your position, reason is out the door.

You can also use a K&N HP-2006 (my personal choice) or a Mobil 1 M1-206.
I don't think the level of filtration from the cleane and reusable filters is anywhere near the same micron particle size. They're designed for race cars that run fresh oil every few hours and a few hundred miles (new every race weekend) not street cars that can go months.

yes Pete is spot on as usual. You don't need a NAPA gold but any compatible filter will do, and all auto parts have a computer or book that show the compatible filters. I used mostly M1, K&N and Bosch in my 997 and Boxster (I used that adapter in both cars, much better solution than the stock set up). Whichever one was avaialble at any of the autoparts stores I went to.
