Default System Fault - Airbag fault

Perhaps 3 weeks ago during a spirited drive I got a "System Fault - Airbag" light/message. My Indy took a look today while addressing some other issues and said they tried to clear the code (C141) and it kept re-appearing. He said It was related to my aftermarket stereo and not communicating with the PCM. Problem is the stereo was installed 2 weeks ago - after I got the airbag light. Indy advised taking it to dealer or to the car stereo place even after i clarified this.

Is a dealer with PIWIS my option here? Not satisfied with the answer from my Indy. I saw a renntech thread about Durametic not being able to clear this code because of a "handoff" but don't know if this is the same?

I had a similar issue on my 997.1 and after diagnosing and pulling the code I isolated it to the head airbag on the drivers side. I had to disassemble the door panel and found that the connector had become loose at some point. I un plugged and plugged the airbag connector, reset the code and it was gone after that.

Once the error source is corrected, Durametric can clear an airbag code. Could be any SRS related contact in the airbag system or seatbelts.

Any suggestions for a Phoenix-area independent who would be knowledgeable on this?
