Default whats that smell?

09 997.2 C2S PDK - I've heard that the 997 can be mal-odorous but am wondering what I might be smelling. Particularly noticeable after running in sport mode. Smells like clutch? Is it normal or is a big prob on the horizon? Maybe cats?

Most likely just Porsche perfume. I figure it's a cosmoline type of substance either applied to the motor for shipping or left behind from manufacturing processes. These can be slow to burn off but mine went away somewhere around 100K miles. Now I kind of miss it.

I've also heard road debris getting burnt by the muffler cans, aren't they directly behind the rear wheels. I thought everyone got it.

Yes - it is a Porsche phenomenon.

In contrast, when you drive a Prius and return to your garage in it, it smells like a pop tart.

(Or any other of a variety of toaster pastries...)

And I've never gotten close enough to one to know what it smells like.

I know that smell and I have noticed on both my recently sold 981 GTS and my 997.2. Smells like you left the emergency brake on. Harmless I am told by my mechanic.
