Wondering if transmission mounts are necessary when replacing motor mounts?
They are not too expensive but the tool to press the bracket on is $450 - Is it necessary?
2005 74,000 miles.
TIA

You will need a press of some kind to get the new mounts in. You can usually remove the old one by cutting it (I have not done this.)
Alternatively, you can simply install some transmission mount inserts (see Function First) to reinforce the original transmission mount without needing to replace them, but these, even at their softest, cause a marked increase in NVH.

I went with black (race) mounts in my 2010 C4S PDK with 145K miles. Also went with the hardest motor mounts. NVH was not substantial. These are sports cars!!!
IMHO the motor mounts were more significant for handling (reducing motion at the rear).

The NVH with FF's orange inserts in my car is only noticeable to a minor degree while idling at a stop light.

I like the Cantrell Motorsport transmission mounts.
They're super-high quality and installed easy with a Harbor Freight ball joint/bearing press.

I have a 997.2 C2S 6sp and wonder if either would be better to keep the NVH to a minimum.
thanks.

Still have not installed mine. Really need a screw jack and/or a helper to jack the tranny at just the right height the put the bolts back in.
