First, happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you!
I'm a bit freaked out and hoping someone out there knows what this noise is from nowhere.
I started my car this morning- Garaged, and yes baby'd beyond words.
This sound started up from the rear that I have never heard before (:12 - :30) & I have no idea whether to be freaked out or what? (attached) to me it sounds like a belt (hopefully). Listen for the "clicking sound"
Yesterday, I was driving and the check oil light came on. I immediately stopped. Pulled over, and did an oil check- all good. Drove to gas station, got gas, then drove home. no sounds. Until this this.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a bearing on one of the belt-driven accessories. I would use a mechanics stethoscope to pinpoint which one.

I have to start it to move it, so do I drive it there?

I would release the belt tensioner and spin the tensioner/idler pulleys by hand. You should likely be able to determine which is bad.

That’s a idler roller when you spin them they should basically stop shortly after release. If it spins it’s dead.

could also be another accessory. Take the best off and start spinning things.

How far is the shop?

If it were me, and I wasn't mechanically inclined, I'd drive to the shop. Worst case is the bad beading/whatever takes out the belt and you have to get a tow. If you don't drive it to the shop you have to get a tow as well.. so I'd drive it (assuming its not like 100 miles away)

Definitely a pulley sound. Look under the car at the back and see if there is evidence of dried coolant at the water pump weep hole. Also, check the coolant level in the reservoir.

If the shop is within normal driving distance you should be fine driving it there. If your mechanically inclined its not a huge job. Save yourdelf some $$$.

Not knowing the car's mileage, I would strongly suggest replacing all three belt idlers, and the serpentine belt for economy of repair.
if you have basic hand tools, this is probably one of the easier jobs to do at home, less than an hour.

Water pumps last about 60-75K miles so possibly replace preemptively if you have a shop do the work.

Idler pulleys are $10 to $20 parts and a bolt on repair. Don't get hooked on paying $60 to $100 per pulley. Since you have a 997.1, you may be in for a water pump as everyone has noted.

Hi!
The car only has 44,000 miles so I will do the pre-emptive work! I used to live in house and had tools galore! Now i live in an apartment, so it's not so easy to do the work. Especially since I now have minimal tools. I'll mention your kind comment to my mechanic, and I'll reply back.
