Default DME Question regarding another 997S with replaced engine

All,

Been discussing a fellow members 997S and he had engine replacement about 5000 miles ago. Car has 96K miles.
No history on the replacement engine from junkyard but it was replaced in 2017 and is an early 05 engine because of engine# and service records from engine replacement show IMS Bearing was replaced with the LN bearing when the swap was made.
Wondering if DME computer is giving information on current replacement engine OR the old trashed engine??

He had DME done for over-revs today. Readings were:
Engine Operating hours: 2735 hours
Range 1 28,917 @ 2728 hours
Range 2 2541 @ 2727 hours
Range 3 936 @ 2562 hours
Range 4 529 @ 2452 hours
Range 5 0
Range 6 0

How can one tell which over revs are for the original engine or the replacement??
Is it possible the DME is not reading current engine and these readings are for original engine that was replaced?
I have never seen so many over revs in range 4 when looking at past over rev reports - Is this high number??

Thx in advance

Was the DME replaced? Probably not. If so it only knows what has occurred under it's "watch" so to speak.

If this is the original DME the average speed driven over 96K miles would have been 35.1 mph which seems reasonable.

If it was replaced 5K miles ago that would equate to roughly 143 hours of run time. So anything before approximately 2,593 hours was the old engine, anything after would be the replacement.

There is a little room for error so I would say that range 4 was almost definitely the old motor. The range 3 is too close to tell. Range 1 and 2 are definitely new motor, and good on them for driving it like it should be driven.

I do not believe the DME was replaced - Does not show on engine replacement service record
Current owner has driven car about 5000 miles - Replacement engine was installed when odometer read approx 91K - Odometer shows 96K now.

So in summary, the DME in car can only read the past 5000 miles and there is really no way of knowing condtion of the replacement engine prior to installation. Correct?

Correct, this DME has no clue what happened to that motor before it was installed in this vehicle.

Looks like the latest on 1 & 2 (not total) are on the replacement engine, while 3 & 4 totals are the old and maybe why it needed to be replaced.
