In honor of our friend @911 Turbo, maybe we can turn this thread into something entertaining. What the most ridiculous mod you ever attempted?

Mine was pretty bad, I tried to turn a 1985 Pontiac Fiero into a kit car Testarossa back in my twenties. It was going to be so authentic, I imagined having to put a sign on the garage wall explaining it wasn't real to discourage would-be car thieves. I was living in a condo at the time and the neighbors above kept complaining about the fiberglass resin fumes from my garage. The HOA wanted to toss me out but they couldn't find any rule I actually violated in their bylaws. The costs kept piling up and I extended the line of credit from my credit union multiple times. I ended up moving around, each time trailering the unfinished mess to my new house. After getting married my much more sensible wife explained to me the "sunk cost fallacy" (though not using those words), and I realized it was time for it to go. The local salvage yard's best offer was to tow it away for free. I took them up on it and learned a hard lesson from my misspent youth ( @jaredomin might be able to relate).

No i dont buy..
Yes for now is to expensive for me. i ask in general so maybe some day..80 000euro is to much for me
my budget is max 50 000euro,plus i must first sell my current car. With that money i can buy 997.2 carrera but Jake Raby say that 9a1 has also bore scoring, but in less percentage for now,but with time he will see if percantge goes up like on older generation..time will tell..

So i dont know what to do

Replace engine not solve the problem, metter of time when will happen again...Listen at 26:10
gt2 gt3 and turbo engines are good(use quality bore and piston) but out of my range

That's brilliant! A dual engine 911. Flat 6 in the back and an LS in the front. Query: do you set it up so both are producing power simultaneously or have a selectable primary/backup situation?

But wait guys, what’s that gonna do to the fuel economy? We need figures.

You’re focusing too much on worst case scenarios. The percentage of this happening is still very low. There are many people who have over 100K miles on their 997.1 cars without issue. If you cannot handle any risk at all, or cannot afford potential repair/upgrade costs, do not buy a 997. Buy a Honda or Toyota that will give you good fuel economy. Talking about a GT3, GT2, or Turbo is useless if it is not in your price range. Move on already s'il vous plait. This topic is not going anywhere.

We've tried to patiently explain this to him over ten pages of comments spanning three threads because we thought he was asking these questions in good faith. After that he comes back and asks the exact same question again phrased a little differently. That only leaves three possibilities: 1) he's not reading the responses, 2) he's a moron, or 3) he's a troll baiting people. Either way he's not worth responding to.

My big mistake was going into debt over my misadventures, and that was a lesson hard-learned early in life. Nothing wrong with adventurous projects IMO and a few go off the rails from time to time, but one shouldn't be borrowing money to do them. Hopefully Jared isn't making the same mistake I did.

I thought he was asking questions in good faith but misguided and English was not his first language. The comments asking people to convert mpg to km/L lost me - not in good faith at all.
