Fairly common for the sunroof drains to get clogged causing water entry. Once you get the water cleaned out, check out the video below on how to check and clean the various drain ports on the 997.

Ohhh! One thing I thought of.
the night prior it had been raining. When I left the restaurant it had stopped. And my friends had not seen the car, so I had put the roof up and down while walking them around the car.
- but mind you; as mentioned on a little bit of water was discovered in the passenger footwell. Everything else was dry.
