Slow warm up on the. 1 cars is best. The low temp thermostat encourages a slower warm up. This allows the metals to heat more equally and minimize problems like bore scoring. There have been many discussions on this.

These cars, IMHO, don't regulate temperature very well. When the engineers are saddled with keeping the NA flat six, getting ever more power, keeping weight down, satisfying emissions standards, and so forth ... somethings got to give. The cooling took lower priority. But that's probably best left to another discussion and others may disagree. I just know that on my car stabilized oil temps can be anywhere from 160F (freeway driving during cool rainy winter evenings at sea level) to 275F (low speed high load dry hot summer high altitude mountain passes). If the cooling system was adequate I wouldn't expect to see such a range.

I agree with Bruce and wouldn't touch that hose until I was doing other cooling related maintenance or repairs, that hose jut has a flesh wound . Just wrap that area with some silicone self fusing tape for some added security and that hose will last indefinitely.
