Pulled the trigger on this overpriced accessory LOL
Greetings,
I've been on the fence as to buying this Porsche OEM accessory ever since I imagined a grocery bag leaking liquid into the frunk of my 997.2 and sit there, thus leading to rust! But, at $160-70 bucks with crazy shipping - I think it was like $100 bucks, I refrained. I know there are DIY options out there and carpet mats, etc. but all options seemed out of place for me because I don't want to see a green bucket or mismatched whatever, when I pop the frunk. Anyhow, to make a long story short I had to order some large parts, so I decided to spurge a little more and ordered it.
My very short review below:
Pros: Very LIGHT, very STRONG, fits perfectly (as shown), looks OEM with the surroundings and it serves its purpose.
Cons: Only price. IMHO, I think $99 would be a great, but than again the Weathertech version which is only a mat cover/liner is $109.95 (!).
Conclusion: It's a great product with a small premium over comparable brands. Plus, if it saves you from an accidental spill of liquid drenching the carpet, stain, rust, etc., its well worth even the premium cost. Plus, it's more worth it than the fake metal gas cap I was on the fence for a while (and still am lol).

Lol. I think that’s a bargain. I just spent almost $400 on a leather covered fuse panel cover that prob no one will ever see. 😆

Like you wanted to protect the carpet, but went with Rubbermaid box that fits exactly side to side. Like having lid and ability to remove box; works great. But when opening frunk doesn’t look near as cool as official liner. Only open frunk when it’s just me able to see, never when a purist is in same county and could disparage me.

I picked one (Porsche box) up "used" when the original purchaser discovered it wouldn't fit with the in frunk CD changer. It's been a very nice accessory. And compared to WeatherTech pricing I don't see cost as being offensive. Especially when comparing it to a gas cap!!!
I carry a lot of tools and other "essentials" in the frunk. It's nice to pull the box out with everything in it. You'll enjoy yours too, I'll bet.

Not only does it fit quite well in the frunk, it's also very sturdy, inexpensive ($8.99/each on sale) but best of all, they collapse down to about a 4" height. The reason for the three each for the other two cars is that we use them when grocery shopping in lieu of using plastic bags. We just roll up the shopping cart to our car, un-collapse the boxes and put the groceries in them... no mess, no fuss and no plastic bags to mess up the environment.
BTW, the top border is available in yellow and red. I bought mine in red which almost matches my Guards Red car.. another win-win.

It only take one good spill to realize how much we need this accessory... however overpriced...

I think the one from Home Depot is the HDX box and is 17 gallon size. Someone else posted about it recently. Supposedly fits well. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-17-G...LDBY/205808350
