Default Sport Design paddle wheel PDK NON-MF upgrade need module?

I have seen several posts about this and I am getting conflicting information on it. Going from a Tiptronic non-multifunctional wheel to a paddle PDK wheel NON-MF. Do I need the 997-613-289-01 module to make this work, or not? I've read both, but would like to know before installing. Thanks Rennlist!

Hi James,

Yes you will need the module and 997-613-289-01 is the correct parts number. I did the swap myself a few months ago and it transformed the tip in my 997.1 C2S.

You will then have to get the steering wheel program to the new module for the paddles to work properly and clear your PSM failure light.

Thank you so much for your reply! I installed the steering wheel without the module and I couldn't get the paddles to work for me. You helped out at the right time!

You would need to call a local Dealer or indy and ask if they can program your new steering wheel to PIWIS II. They should know what to do, your tip is bullet proof but those switches are horrible to use.

You can enable a new wheel with a Foxwell NT530 easy peasy..

One more question. There's a guy who is also doing the swap as well on a 2007 turbo Tiptronic. Same wheel as ours, except his original wheel had multi function whereas mine was not. The new wheel he has doesn't have MF. Will he require the same module as us (289 one)?

Yes, if you're talking about the post back in 2017 then it's my buddy's car.

Got the Sport Design 997.2 steering wheel installed. I love the drive better, especially in Sport mode. Effortless gear changes now.

That looks awesome, so jealous you got a turbo.

Thanks, it's so much nicer to drive. The car definitely looks and feels newer all from a steering wheel change. If anyone out there is contemplating making the switch, it's worth it.
