Default 18" Lobster Forks Wheel diameter VS. 19" Lobster F

All,

My 997S had 19" Lobster Fork wheels - Recently when I had mentioned the 18" Lobsters on 997 C4 that I am buying and concern about ground glearance if I lower car, a few RL'ers mentioned the diameter of the 18" wheel w/tire are the same and the 19" wheels/tire?
If they are correct, I assume the tire on the 19" wheel has a lower profile? Or are they smoking weed?

I don’t think they ever made 18” Lobster fork wheels. They only come in 19”. There are 18” wheels that look similar but not exactly the same as the 997 Lobster fork wheel, that they made for the Boxster. Those are kind ugly IMO.

Our back tires are 305-30 ZR19. Fronts are 235-35 ZR19. At least in 2006, I don't think there was an 18 inch Lobster. At least from the options list I have seen. I saw that mentioned too and thought they were referring to another year model of 997.1.

If they are lobster forks, they are in 19”. Maybe the previous owner ordered those wheels or bought them afterwards. They didn’t make them in 18”.

Wow this is strange because I always thought the non-S cars had 18" Lobsters and S cars the 19's. So no 18" Lobsters - Learned something new
The car I am buying is 2006 C4 and has Lobster Forks so I assumed they were 18"

Just called seller and confirmed they are 19" Lobster Forks my all time favorite wheel.
Car has Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires

No 19" wheels on my build sheet but confirmed seller added them 5 yrs ago. Also confirmed they are OEM Lobsters.
I thought all 997's had the TPMS (Tire pressure monitoring system)? my 05 997S, 2007 997S and 2007 C4S all had the TPMS.
I see on my build sheet it was an option so maybe option for non-S cars?

Thank God, my 2006 997.1 C4S does not have TPMS!

these are the 18" lobster fork wheels that you're talking about.

Those look like a bad excuse for the Carrera Sport wheels.

I found TPMS handy but not necessary - Why all the hate?

My car originally equipped with TPMS as well, but previous owner disabled it. I've left it, but did look into reactivating it as all the hardware is still here, just need to turn it on with Durametric. But I couldn't find a decent aftermarket sensor for decent price when I was looking, so I haven't bothered. I think some folks just find them finicky. I think it's a nice piece to have as well, but then you do get another maintenance issue.

I would rather have them on the 911 than the 957 Cayenne Base, which does have them. The 911 tire pressures are more critical for handling, and tire life is also highly dependent on proper pressure, and the tires are a bit 'pricey'.. On the 957, just went through changing them all out (they lasted 11 years, maybe could have gone to 12). I used these. I find that the pressures on the PCM dash are within a pound or two of my gages (used on the Road King and 911 and pedal bikes only).

As I recall the lobster fork wheels were part of the S package and could be ordered when special ordering a car or after the fact from a dealership. They came in 19x8 with a 57 offset, a 19x11 with a 67 offset and 19x11 with a 51 mm offset for the 4s. The lobster Fork wheels were also available for the same year Boxsters and Caymans in 19x8 in a 57mm offset and a 19x9.5 with a 45mm offset. The early Boxster S came with a similar looking wheels as can be see below in 18inch diameters.
