Default Stupid question: Medium miles 997.1 or High Mileage 997.2?

All things being equal (clean carfax, service history, etc), and with a serviced IMS for the 997.1, what would be the smarter purchasing move 5 years down the line (both from a maintenance perspective but also re-sale):

A 05/06 997.1 with 45-65k miles or a '10 997.2 with 95k miles? Both options are priced the same and are manual, base model coupes.

Thank you and godspeed.

Are they priced equally? I would think a 2010 would be more expensive even with the added miles, all other factors being equal.

For me I would need to know the transmission in each to offer an opinion? Manual to manual? Or manual to PDK? Tiptronic to PDK?

Thank you, I forgot to mention those details. They would both be priced equally, maybe 1-2k more for the 997.2, but that is not a factor. Both would be manuals.

post more details, specific model, color, and options, they all factor into the decision. Lots of good advice available on this forum but more information gets better responses.

In the current market I would expect the high mileage manual 997.2 to still cost more than medium mileage 997.1, I would probably lean toward the 997.2, if it had a thorough clean PPI, but that is a tough call.

Pretend they are the same color (silver) and are optioned identically (base model coupes), both would have a clean PPI, with the same items replaced (or not) throughout their life. I am only on the fence for the 997.2 because of the high miles and do not have any experience with a Porsche beyond 80k miles. Hoping to source some crowd-wisdom from more experienced owners. Thank you.

If You are not looking for a special gen one aka x51 etc I would go for a gen 2 everyday of the week. Have owned a x51 4s gen1 and now into a 997:2 4S with 140 000 km on it. This car feels MORE solid than the gen1 I sold thar had 47000 km on it.
Nowm my gen 2 has only a few revs on stage 1 and 2 so it is really "kind driven"

Sums it up for me too. Going from the -06 C4S with just over 40K miles to the -09 C4S with just 4K miles, the thing that struck me was how much tighter the -09 C4S felt. Obviously you would expect that from a car with 36K fewer miles than the previous one. What really stood out though was that the -09 C4S felt just as tight and solid when I sold it with 43K miles as it did when I bought it with 4K miles. I can't say that about the -06 C4S which I bought with just 2K miles. Felt much "softer" and less tight and solid when I sold it with just over 40K miles on the clock. Big difference compared to the -09.

I would go for the .2 with more miles for the peace of mind around bore scoring and IMS ;-) (and also more modern interior butons...)

Speaking of revs - for the 997.2 I was given:
Stage 1: 4896 @ 2575
Stage 2: 239 @ 2290
Stage 3: 46 @ 623
Stage 4: 185 @ 623
Stage 5: 295 @ 623

Stage 6: 0

What would cause the revs in stages 3-6 to all happen at the same point in time? And are those numbers concerning given they last happened over 600 hours ago?

As for the 997.1, I was given (total hours 1975):
Stage 1: 65535 @ 1840
Stage 2: 22186 @ 1838

Stage 3: 1000 @ 1838
Stage 4: 434 @ 1823
Stage 5: 311 @ 1823
Stage 6: 0

I know people say to not worry about stages 1-2, but those seems like an intense amount of ignitions for not long ago?

I would go for the 997.2 because you get the 9A1 engine. That's the key difference between the two models. The M96/97 engines are great but for peace of mind I would prefer to have the 997.2 with the newer engine and no IMS. Also, I don't really think high mileage is that big of a factor with these cars as long as they are looked after properly. I bought my 2006 997.1 with 100k miles on it. If I didn't know it has 100k miles I would think it has about 20k. It's solid and drives perfectly. They are so well built that the miles don't matter that much if maintained properly.
